New Orleans, La. – Blue Mountain Christian Volleyball continued SSAC play on the road Friday evening, falling to Loyola in three sets inside The Den.
Marissa Gerleman paced the Topper attack with 10 kills, while
Valeria Velez added six. BMCU finished the night with 28 kills as a team.
The Toppers put together their strongest push in the second set.
After Loyola grabbed the opening frame, BMCU battled throughout the second before the Wolf Pack eventually secured a 25-20 decision.
BMCU continued to battle in the third set, but Loyola was able to create separation down the stretch to close out the match, 25-18.
Defensively,
Abbi Williams continued her strong season at libero, collecting a match-high 19 digs.
Salice Speed and Velez each added six digs.
Olivia Lewis led the Toppers at the net with four blocks, while Speed and Velez each contributed two. BMCU totaled seven blocks in the match, just one shy of Loyola's eight.
Brenyn Wilbanks handed out a team-high 11 assists, followed by
Olivia Domino with seven and
Sydney Tague with six. Speed also recorded two of BMCU's three service aces.
The Toppers will look to bounce back as they continue SSAC play tomorrow versus Xavier.
