Blue Mountain, Miss.- Blue Mountain Christian Men's Soccer returned to the win column Tuesday afternoon, defeating Central Baptist College 2-1 in non-conference action at The Summit.
The Toppers controlled much of the match offensively, outshooting the Mustangs 23-3 while putting 10 attempts on goal.
BMCU broke through in the 25th minute.
Dipanda Silva Jr. found the back of the net at the 24:52 mark off assists from
Davi Vieira and
Guilherme Aguiar, sending the Toppers into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
Blue Mountain Christian continued to apply pressure after the break and doubled its lead in the 67th minute.
Santiago Estebanez provided what proved to be the game-winning goal at 66:51, giving BMCU a 2-0 cushion.
Central Baptist pulled one back late as Mackenzie Vincent scored in the 87th minute off an assist from Jack McNamara, but the Toppers saw out the remaining minutes to secure the 2-1 victory.
BMCU finished with a 23-3 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in shots on goal. The Toppers also generated seven corner kicks compared to two for Central Baptist.
With the victory, Blue Mountain Christian improves to 4-1-3 on the season.
