PULASKI, Tenn. – Blue Mountain Christian Men returned to SSAC action here Saturday, falling to (RV) UT-Southern 1-2.
The Firehawks collected its opening goal from Benjamin Chretien on an assist from Felix Hammel at the 26:53 mark of the first.
The Firehawks, hovering near the national Top 25 and receiving votes to be ranked, got its second goal at the 41:47 mark on a netter from Nick Miske with an assist from Tyrell Inniss.
The Toppers wouldn't go quietly, as they finally hit the board at the 81:20 mark of the second half, getting a goal from
Erick Braga on an assist from
Davi Rainato.
Blue Mountain's
Yalin Alici would get a final shot off with time winding down, but UT-Southern keeper William McGinn would get the save to secure the victory.
Blue Mountain would fire off nine shots on goal to keep the Firehawks on their toes, while Topper keeper
Luan Nascimento was solid at the goal despite the loss with five saves.
BMCU (4-2-3) returns to SSAC action Thursday, Oct. 1 against Brewton-Parker in Mount Vernon, Ga. with first whistle set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
