Blue Mountain, Miss.- Blue Mountain Christian Men's Soccer opened the 2026 season in winning fashion Saturday, defeating LSU Alexandria 2-0 at Topper Pitch.
The Toppers used a pair of goals from
Dipanda Silva Jr. and a strong defensive effort to earn a clean sheet in their season and home opener.
LSU Alexandria applied pressure early, recording three shots in the opening eight minutes, but the BMCU defense kept the Generals from finding the back of the net.
The Toppers' first opportunity came in the 26th minute when
Erick Braga sent an attempt high.

Luan Nascimento was called into action shortly after, making his first save of the match on a shot from Thiago Lopes in the 28th minute.
With the match appearing destined to enter halftime scoreless, the Toppers struck in the closing seconds of the opening period.
Pedro Pina connected with Silva, who found the back of the net with just 25 seconds remaining in the half to give BMCU a 1-0 advantage heading into the break.
The Generals increased the pressure early in the second half, earning three consecutive corner kicks between the 56th and 57th minutes, but the Toppers' defense continued to hold firm.
BMCU had an opportunity to double its advantage in the 62nd minute when Silva stepped up for a penalty kick, but his attempt went wide.
LSU Alexandria continued searching for the equalizer, but Nascimento came up with another save in the 76th minute to preserve the one-goal advantage.
The Toppers began creating opportunities of their own down the stretch.
Sammuel Davi Cavalcante put an attempt on goal in the 75th minute before
Alfonso Vasquez forced another save from the LSU Alexandria goalkeeper in the 79th.
BMCU finally found the insurance goal in the 87th minute. Cavalcante set up Silva, who buried his second goal of the match to give the Toppers a 2-0 advantage.
Nascimento made one final save moments later to put the finishing touches on the shutout and secure BMCU's first victory of the season.
Silva finished the season opener with both of BMCU's goals, while Pina and Cavalcante each recorded an assist. Nascimento finished with three saves in the clean-sheet performance as the Toppers opened their 2026 campaign 1-0.
