Toppers dominate in sweep at Rust College

Holly Springs, Miss.- The Blue Mountain Christian University baseball team put together an explosive offensive day Wednesday, sweeping a doubleheader against Rust College with dominant wins of 30-4 and 9-4.
In game one, the Toppers wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three runs in the first inning before erupting for five runs in the second and a massive 15-run fourth inning to break the game open.
Blue Mountain continued to apply pressure late, adding runs in the sixth and seventh to complete the 30-4 victory.
The Toppers produced 19 hits in the game and were led by Cody Presley, who went 3-for-6 with seven RBIs and two home runs.
Jacob Bryant also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs, while Jake Meilstrup scored five runs and collected three hits.
Ross Polizzi added two hits and four RBIs, and Jarrett Morris contributed two hits and three RBIs in the offensive outburst.
On the mound, JD Klug earned the win after allowing just one run over four innings while striking out three.
Jack Hearn, Jesse Mellinger, and Jabari Farr provided relief appearances to close out the win.
Blue Mountain carried that momentum into game two, jumping out to an early lead before a four-run third inning helped create separation.
Rust attempted to rally with three runs in the fifth, but the Toppers answered with three insurance runs in the seventh to secure the 9-4 win and the doubleheader sweep.
Ross Polizzi led the offense in game two, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs including a home run. Hugh Parsons also had a strong performance, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Cody Presley added two hits, while Jacob Bryant drove in two runs.
Blue Mountain used a strong pitching staff effort in the second game.
Judson Griffin earned the win in relief, while Jarrett Morris closed the game to earn the save.
The Toppers will look to carry the momentum from the midweek sweep as they return to conference play.
