Toppers sweep Point in three games to start SSAC play

Blue Mountain, Miss.- Blue Mountain Christian University opened their doubleheader at the BMCU Sportsplex with a convincing 10–3 victory over Point in the first game before coming back later in the day to secure an 8–2 win in the nightcap, showcasing timely hitting up and down the lineup and strong work on the mound.
In game one, the Toppers got on the board early, sending waves of offense through the first inning.
Ross Polizzi started the scoring with an RBI double, and Cody Presley followed with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 2–0.
Jarrett Morris added an RBI shortly after, and Yaidel Perez continued the outburst with an RBI base hit to make it 4–0 after one.
BMCU didn't slow down, as the sixth inning became the big frame — Polizzi's RBI single, Presley's second sac fly, and Trace Roy's RBI knock extended the lead.
Perez provided a big two-RBI hit, and Garret Lance capped the rally with another RBI knock to give the Toppers a commanding lead.
Polizzi finished 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI, Perez had three RBI of his own, and Trace Roy added an RBI in the big day at the plate.
On the mound, Ryan Murphy earned the win, allowing just three runs over six innings while striking out four before Christian Manness closed out the game.
Later in the day, BMCU continued to roll in the second matchup, taking control early and never looking back in an 8–2 triumph.
Ethan Hirons sparked the offense with an RBI double in the second inning, and he later stole home to add another run as the Toppers grabbed a 2–0 lead.
In the fourth inning, BMCU's offense broke things open as Ross Polizzi's RBI walk set the table and Cody Presley followed with a two-RBI single.
Jake Meilstrup continued his consistent play with an RBI single in the fifth, and Polizzi added a two-run double to stretch the advantage.
The Toppers' offense was balanced and aggressive — Meilstrup finished with multiple hits and a run driven in, Presley collected two runs batted in, and both Polizzi and Hirons contributed extra-base hits en route to the win.
On the mound, Benji Webb was dominant, firing a complete game while scattering six hits and striking out eight to limit Point's offense. Though Point plated two runs in the sixth on an RBI double and a base hit, BMCU maintained control throughout and closed out the victory.
The Toppers put together a terrific doubleheader performance to make it a clean sweep and start conference play in dominant fashion.
