Toppers split doubleheader, respond dominant nightcap victory

Blue Mountain, Miss.- Blue Mountain Christian baseball split its home doubleheader Tuesday at Topper Field, falling 10-4 in the opener before bouncing back in emphatic fashion with a 16-0 run-rule victory over Rust in the nightcap.
In game one, the Toppers collected nine hits and showed offensive rhythm throughout the afternoon. Ross Polizzi led the way at the plate with three hits and three runs scored, consistently setting the tone offensively. 
Trace Roy added two hits and drove in a pair of runs, while Garret Lance delivered a solo home run to spark momentum. 
Cody Pressly also recorded two hits as Blue Mountain continued to apply pressure at the plate.
Despite the steady offensive production, Rust capitalized on key innings to build separation on the scoreboard, finishing with 12 hits to secure the 10-4 result.
The nightcap told a much different story.
Blue Mountain Christian responded with one of its most complete performances of the season, overwhelming Rust 16-0 in a five-inning run-rule victory. 
The Toppers erupted offensively, scoring in four of the five innings and breaking the game open with an explosive fifth frame.
Cody Pressly delivered a historic performance at the plate, launching three home runs and driving in five RBI to power the Blue Mountain offense. 
Pressly's display of power ignited the dugout and set the tone for the offensive surge. Polizzi continued his strong day with two RBI and a home run, while Reise Thomas added two hits and scored three times. 
Contributions also came from Jarret Morris and Spencer Wilson as the Toppers showcased depth throughout the lineup.
On the mound, JD Klug was dominant. Klug delivered a complete-game shutout performance, striking out 12 while allowing just four hits and no runs. 
His command and presence prevented Rust from gaining any offensive traction and anchored the Toppers' commanding response.
After a competitive first game, Blue Mountain Christian showcased resilience, offensive firepower, and dominant pitching in the nightcap to earn the split. 
The Toppers continue to build momentum as the season progresses, combining timely hitting with standout performances at the plate and on the mound.
