Marietta, Ga.- The Toppers continued Southern States Athletic Conference play Thursday evening on the road, falling to Life University, 73–55, at the Eagles' Nest.
Blue Mountain stayed competitive early, trading baskets with Life in the opening quarter before the Running Eagles gained a slight edge.
BMCU settled into the game offensively in the second quarter, working the ball inside and competing on the glass to keep the contest within reach heading into halftime.
Life created separation coming out of the break, using a strong third-quarter push to extend the lead, while the Toppers continued to battle defensively and look for scoring opportunities.
Blue Mountain remained aggressive into the fourth quarter, but Life's efficiency down the stretch allowed the home team to close out the conference matchup.
Maddie Kirk led the Toppers offensively with 17 points, while
McKenzie Williams recorded a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.
Isabella Carlson contributed across the stat sheet with four assists and five rebounds, and
Dominique Collins added six points off the bench.
The Toppers will return to action in one week when they host the Thomas Nighthawks at Tyler Gymnasium.
