Blue Mountain, Miss.- The Toppers delivered a strong performance Thursday night, securing a 77–38 Southern States Athletic Conference victory over the Thomas University Night Hawks. Blue Mountain set the tone early with defensive intensity and efficient scoring, maintaining control from start to finish in the conference matchup.
The Toppers came out with energy in the opening quarter, forcing turnovers and converting scoring opportunities to jump out to a 24–5 lead after the first ten minutes.
Blue Mountain continued to dictate the pace in the second quarter, extending the advantage behind balanced offense and steady execution before heading into halftime with firm control of the game.
Coming out of the break, the Lady Toppers stayed aggressive on both ends of the floor, outscoring the Night Hawks in the third quarter as they attacked the paint and knocked down perimeter shots.
Blue Mountain closed the contest with another consistent fourth-quarter effort, pulling away further to secure the convincing SSAC win.
Rebecca Walter led the Toppers with 18 points while providing a strong interior presence throughout the night, while
Kathryn Echols followed with 15 points after connecting on multiple three-point attempts.
Maddie Kirk and
Lena Taylor each finished with 11 points, contributing to a balanced scoring attack.
Kirk also paced Blue Mountain on the boards with nine rebounds, while
Isabella Carlson added eight rebounds and three assists in a well-rounded performance.
The Toppers' depth and defensive pressure allowed them to maintain intensity for all four quarters as they continue to build momentum in SSAC play.
