Blue Mountain, Miss.- Toppers staged a thrilling comeback to open SSAC play, erasing a late 2-0 deficit with three goals in the final 15 minutes to defeat the Barons, 3-2.
The Barons struck first, netting the lone goal of the first half at the 44-minute mark. They doubled their lead in the 74th minute, but the Toppers wasted no time responding. Just one minute later,
Pedro Pina electrified the home crowd with a stunning bicycle kick to cut the deficit in half.
Momentum shifted again in the 88th minute when the Barons suffered a disastrous own goal, bringing the match level at 2-2. With just 25 seconds left on the clock,
Kida Yamaguchi's corner kick found Pina, who delivered his second goal of the night to complete the comeback.
The Barons had no time to respond as the final whistle sounded, sealing a dramatic 3-2 victory for BMCU. It was an incredible display of resilience by the Toppers, who now turn their focus to Saturday's home match against the Thomas University Nighthawks.
