Toppers rally in Game 3 to take series from UT-Southern

PULASKI, Tenn. – GAME 2 – After BMCU took Game 1 Friday of the three-game SSAC series here, Game 2 would go the way of the Firehawks of UT-Southern 13-3.
The Toppers got an RBI single in the second from Carson Gault and would take the lead later in the inning with a score from Gault on a wild pitch.
The Firehawk offense fired up in the third, plating four including an RBI double by Cole Barnett.
Jacob Bryant would score on a groundout for the Toppers in the fifth, but that would be all BMCU could get.
Barnett would hit a solo homer in the eighth, and the Firehawks would get three RBI singles later in the inning to seal the game with the mercy rule.
Josiah Rivera and Tyrese Roberson both had a pair of hits in the losing effort.
Max Bates (2-5) was saddled with the pitching loss, throwing three innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with two Ks.
