Softball stifles Bethel with two wins

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain and Bethel met for the final non-conference doubleheader of the season, with the Toppers grabbing Game 1 by a score of 6-4.
The Wildcats would score a pair of runs in the opening frame on a fielder's choice and an RBI single by Riley Sharp.
The Toppers would get a run in the third, as Maryn Macri single in Audrey Hillis.
In the fifth, Skylar Lee would score on a Bethel error and Kelsey Camp scored on a groundout for the Toppers.
Bre Ramsey would add some insurance for the Toppers in the top of the seventh with a two-run single.
Bri Langley (4-1) picked up the win with a complete game, allowing four runs on eight hits with a K.
Macri finished with two hits and two RBI, while Lee and Camp both added two hits each in the win for BMCU
 
GAME 2
Blue Mountain would complete the sweep in the nightcap, winning 6-3 over the Wildcats.
The Toppers wasted little time as they would get an RBI double by Iris Farve and a score from Kelsey Camp on a passed ball to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
The Wildcats would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, but Blue Mountain would add another in the third on an RBI single by Camp to make it 4-2.
The Toppers sealed the deal in the sixth, as Neely Barrier and Skylar Lee had RBI singles.
Lee and Camp both finished with three hits in the win for BMCU, while Maryn Macri had two and Farve drove in two.
Janna Shaw (2-2) picked up the win in the circle for BMCU, tossing six innings, allowing one run on five hits with three Ks.
BMCU (23-23, 9-15 SSAC) hosts SSAC foe UT-Southern Saturday in Blue Mountain at 2 and 4 p.m. CT to close out the regular season.
