CBU wins two in tangle with Toppers

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian hosted NCAA DII Christian Brothers here today in non-conference, midweek action, dropping Game 1 by a score of 3-2.
The Bucs scored two in the second on a groundout and an RBI double to right center by Abigail Garrison.
CBU would get another in the top of the fourth on an infield single by Marin Beeson to make it 3-0.
The Toppers would answer in the bottom of the inning with a sac-fly by Iris Farve and a double steal that saw Maryn Macri score.
That would be all the scoring, with Emily Schooler picking up the pitching win for CBU.
Madison Montgomery (8-9) took the loss for the Toppers, tossing a complete game, allowing three earned runs on just five hits with a K.
 
GAME 2
The nightcap saw extra innings, with Christian Brothers also getting the win, taking the non-conference tilt 4-3.
The Bucs struck first in the top of the first with Kamryn Neely driving a two-run double to left center.
Blue Mountain would get one back in the bottom half of the inning, as Kelsey Camp doubled in Skylar Lee to make it 2-1.
Blue Mountain would even the score in the bottom of the fifth with Bre Ramsey scoring on a wild pitch.
The Bucs went back ahead in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from Riley Simpson to make it 3-2.
Ramsey would tie it again for the Toppers in the bottom of the sixth, depositing an RBI triple to right center to score Neely Barrier and eventually send it to extra innings.
With the International Tie-Break in effect, the Bucs would score a run on a sac-fly by Abigail Garrison to win it and take the sweep.
Ramsey and Lee both had two hits for the Toppers, while Neely Cooper (4-8) took the pitching loss, throwing a complete game, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits with five Ks.  Audrey Hillis and Neely Barrier both chipped in a pair of hits, also.
BMCU (21-23, 9-15 SSAC) returns to action to tomorrow against Bethel in non-conference play at 3 and 5 p.m. CT in McKenzie, Tenn.
