Faulkner wins Game 3 over Toppers

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 3 – Blue Mountain Christian and No. 13 Faulkner completed their SSAC Series of the Week here Saturday, as the Toppers would drop the contest 6-4 to give the Eagles the series.
The Toppers would strike first in the opening inning, with Hayden Redding driving in a run with a triple to left center.  Chris Smith would then come up and single on the infield to drive in Redding, making it 2-0 Toppers.
The Eagles claimed a run in the top of the second, as Marlon Oviedo scored on a Topper error.
Smith would repeat in the bottom of the third, depositing an RBI single into center to make it 3-1.
In the sixth, Faulkner would even the score at 3-all on an RBI double by Kenny Di Clemente and a sac-fly from Jeyson Polanco
Faulkner would grab its first lead of the game in the top of the seventh on a sac-bunt from Christian Webb, making it 4-3.
The Toppers tied it in the bottom of the seventh when Redding single in a run to center, but Faulkner would answer in the top of the ninth with a pair of runs to seal the game and the series.
Redding would collect three hits, two runs, two RBI and five stolen bases in the game for BMCU.  Redding leads the nation with 33 stolen bases in 34 attempts.
Austin Garrison and Smith would both chip in two hits for the Toppers.
Max Bates tossed five innings in the no decision start for the Toppers.  He gave up two earned runs on eight hits with a K.
Michael Lorenz (0-1) would suffer the loss in relief for the Toppers, tossing four innings, scattering six hits with two runs and two Ks.
BMCU (13-11, 6-6 SSAC) returns to SSAC play Friday and Saturday, hosting Thomas University (Ga.).
