BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian and No. 13 Faulkner met up Friday to kick off an important three-game SSAC series in Topper Town.
The Toppers would take Game 1 by a score of 8-2, thanks to a big sixth inning and a complete game from lefty
Benji Webb.
The Eagles would score in the first as Orlando Lorduy would hit a sac-fly to center, making it 1-0.
The Toppers would tie it in the fourth against Faulkner ace Marco Ozuna, as
Will Crawford grounded out to third to score
Hayden Redding.
Blue Mountain's offensive would come alive in the sixth, as the Toppers plated seven runs. In the innings, Redding had an RBI triple and RBI single, while Crawford also singled in a run.
Crawford would score on a wild pitch,
Jacob Mobley scored on a bases-loaded walk,
Josiah Rivera scored on a wild pitch and
Tyrese Roberson had a sac-fly in the inning.
Webb (5-1) tossed the complete game, allowing two runs on just six hits with four Ks.
Redding would finish with two hits, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base.

GAME 2
Blue Mountain would fall in the nine-inning nightcap, as Faulkner evened the series at 1-1 with a 6-5 win.
Faulkner scored first in the top of the second on a sac-fly from Christian Webb, followed by a two-run homer from Marlon Oviedo to make it 3-0.
The Toppers answered in the bottom half of the inning, with
Chris Smith and
Jacob Mobley both scoring on an Eagle error to make it 3-2.
The Eagles scratched another run in the top of the third on a sac-fly to left from Orlando Lorduy to take a two-run lead.
In the bottom of the third,
Carson Gault drilled an RBI single through the right side to score
Will Crawford to make it 4-3.
Tyrese Roberson would tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth, notching a sac-fly to left.
The Eagles would take the lead for good in the seventh on a Topper error, followed by an RBI single in the ninth from Kenny Di Clemente, despite a run from the Toppers in the bottom of the ninth.
Cameron Gordon suffered the loss for BMCU on the bump, tossing 6.1 innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits with four Ks.
The two teams will decide the series Saturday at Topper Field with first pitch at 1 p.m. CT.
