New Orleans, LA- The Loyola Wolf Pack beat the Toppers Friday afternoon in a doubleheader to win the SSAC series.
The Wolf Pack got out to an early lead in game two of the series, scoring six runs in the first two innings.
In the third inning, Ty Roberson scored on a fielder's choice hit by
Braxton Miller.
Hayden Redding hit a single up the middle to score
Austin Garrison to make the Loyola lead 6-2 in the fifth.
Jacob Bryant hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to score Miller.
Jack Hearn came in to pitch in relief of
Benji Webb and look solid, going five scoreless innings and allowing just four hits.
Caden Duran of the Wolf Pack was able to shut the door on the Toppers in the seventh to tie the series at one game apiece.
In the game three,
Max Bates had a stout outing against the Wolf Pack. He pitched seven innings, giving up five runs off eight hits.
The Wolf Pack were able to maintain the lead through game three, but it was one run ball game in the eighth inning.
Josiah Rivera and Redding both homered in the ball game.
Silas McKinely scored on a batted ball by
Ross Polizzi.
Loyola scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it an 8-4 game.
The Wolf pack were able to hold off the Toppers in the ninth to win the SSAC series.
The Toppers will travel to Arkansas to face off against Willaims Baptist on Tuesday.
