BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian and (RV) Middle Georgia State matched up here for a two-game SSAC Saturday series.
Middle Georgia would take the victory in Game 1, knocking off the Toppers 6-1 for their tenth conference victory.
MGA would strike first with three runs in the top of the first inning, but Blue Mountain would answer in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from
Shante Beaulieu to score
Julianna Ingram.
The Knights would get another in the third on a double steal with catcher's obstruction called at the plate to make it 4-1.
In the top of the fifth, MGA would get a two-run homer to center from Melody Bullock and that would be all the Knights needed for the win.
Madison Montgomery (5-5) suffered the loss in the circle for BMCU, tossing five innings, giving up five earned runs on nine hits with two Ks.
Emily Proctor tossed a complete game for the Knights, giving up a run on four hits with nine Ks for the win.
GAME 2
The bats came alive for Blue Mountain in the backend game, as they would bang out 10 hits, but come up short 7-6 due to a seventh-inning rally from MGA.
The Toppers wasted little time scoring, as they would get a roped two-run double to left center from
Iris Farve.
Blue Mountain extended its lead in the bottom of the third, as Farve singled in a run and
Kelsey Camp drilled a three-run homer to left, giving the Toppers a 6-1 lead.
MGA battled back and would score three runs in the sixth and three in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run double from Madison Cosgrove to ultimately give them the sweep.
Camp and Farve both finished with two hits and three RBI each for the Toppers, while
Maryn Macri chipped in a pair of hits.
Skylar Lee would also have two stolen bases for BMCU.
Neely Cooper (3-5) suffered the setback in the circle, tossing a complete game, giving up five earned runs on 10 hits with four Ks.
BMCU (12-14, 2-8 SSAC) returns to action Tuesday in Jackson, Tenn. against NCAA DII Lane College at 2 and 4 p.m. CT.
