BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 3 – Blue Mountain Christian and Lindsey Wilson met here Saturday for Games 3 and 4 of the weekend series, with the Toppers taking a 9-6 win in Game 3.
BMCU's
Hayden Redding would have an unbelievable series at the plate, helping the Toppers to the non-conference series victory.
The Toppers would get a run in the first thanks to a sac-fly from
Josiah Rivera to score
Hayden Redding.
In the third, Redding started his day by blasting a two-run bomb to left to give his team a 3-2 lead.
In the fifth,
Chris Smith knocked in a run on a sac-fly, followed by a three-run homer from
Will Crawford that put the Toppers up for good.
Smith provided an RBI single in the sixth, followed by a bases loaded walk from
Ross Polizzi to finish off the Blue Raiders.
Austin Garrison (1-0) picked up the pitching win in relief of
Cole Giordano, tossing three innings, giving up three runs on six hits with two Ks. Giordano tossed four innings, giving up three runs on four hits with a pair of Ks.
Redding led the way at the plate for BMCU, going 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBI. Rivera and Polizzi each had two RBI for the Toppers.
GAME 4
It was the
Hayden Redding show in the final game of the series, as he would jack two more homers to give BMCU a 6-4 win.
Redding would belt a solo shot to center in the fourth, followed up by a two-run bomb to left-center in the sixth, finishing with four hits and three RBI in the final tilt.
In the first, Redding pulled a rare score from third on a popup to second by
Josiah Rivera, giving Rivera the sac-fly.
Ross Polizzi followed that up with a two-run single up the middle.
Blue Mountain got a strong outing from
Max Bates (1-1), as the lefty picked up the decision by tossing a complete game, giving up three earned runs on eight hits with a K.
Will Crawford would provide two hits and an RBI in the victory, also.
BMCU (5-3, 0-0) returns to action Tuesday against Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. with first pitch set for 2 p.m. CT.
