BMCU Splits with Lane in Pitching Duels

Blue Mountain, Miss.- BMCU split the doubleheader Thursday afternoon but had great pitching performances to start the year with three wins and one loss on the season.
The starting pitcher for the lady Toppers in game one of the doubleheader was Neely Cooper
Cooper is a transfer from Northwest Community College, and she was impressive in the circle to start her BMCU career.
She pitched six innings with three strikeouts and gave up only three runs. Only one of those runs was earned.
The lady Toppers played through some errors in game one but were only able to score one run in the first game with an RBI single by Neely Barrier to score Maryn Macri
Janna Shaw, a transfer from Northeast Community College, pitched the seventh inning. She did not allow a hit and sat down a batter in her inning of work.
The Dragons were able to get three runs on the board with RBIs from Jazmyne Brown, Koralie Morin, and Ja'Kai Ray.
Koralie went a complete game pitching for the Dragons and only allowed one run.
In the second game, the Toppers girls fought back, with Bri Langley doing a great job in the circle. Langley allowed one run and gave up just four hits with four strikeouts in her complete seven innings of work.
Audrey Hillis scored on a passed ball in the second inning to give BMCU the lead.
Macri had a solid game at the plate with a single and a double.
Kelsey Camp added to her efforts with two hits as well and an RBI.
Two runs were enough to secure the win for Langley.
BMCU will look to continue their strong start to season on Saturday in Blue Mountain as they take on Stillman College.
