Blue Mountain, Miss.- BMCU fell to Faulkner on Saturday afternoon for the opening series of SSAC conference play.
The starting pitcher in game one for the lady Toppers was Madison Montgomery. She went 6 and two-thirds of an inning in the game, giving up one earned run.
BMCU took an early lead in the first inning of action, with two runs off a base hit by Julianna Ingram and an error by the Eagles.
The lady Toppers and Eagles found themselves in a tie ball game at three runs each.
Three runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning for Faulkner, through playing small ball, to give them the lead. They ended keeping the lead and taking game one in the series.
The lady Toppers looked to battle back from game one, with Bri Langley in the circle to start game two.
The lady toppers took the lead in the third inning behind a sacrifice fly that was hit by Iris Farve, and Kelsey Camp followed behind her, with a sacrifice fly of her own.
With the lady Toppers holding a two-run lead, Faulkner answered back. A four-run inning in the fourth gave the lady Eagles a two-run lead of their own.
Neely Cooper came in relief and looked great in her three and one-thirds inning of work. She allowed only three hits and stopped the Eagles from being able to score.
BMCU in the seventh inning tried to create some life with the bases juiced, but Faulkner was able cling on for the game two victory.
BMCU Softball will be back in action against Bryan College at BMCU Sportsplex on Monday afternoon.
