BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Middle Georgia State was able to fend off a late comeback from Blue Mountain Saturday, holding on to the SSAC victory 78-73.
The Knights would jump out on a cold Topper team by 10 points early in the first half, but Blue Mountain was able to get back in with some timely baskets, and eventually take the lead early in the second half.
BMCU got another solid game from
Ikechi Ajukwa, as he led with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Bryan Maxey and
Jalen Boyd-Savage both chipped in 13 points in the losing effort, while
Vincent Douglas had nine.
The Knights would shoot 52 percent from the floor on the day, while also outrebounding the Toppers 39-24.
The Knights' Milique Smith had a stellar game, completing a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
The MGA bench would provide 27 points in the game, while Blue Mountain's had 20.
BMCU (9-14, 2-10 SSAC) returns to SSAC action Thursday, traveling to Loyola (La.) in New Orleans for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
