MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Blue Mountain Christian Volleyball secured its 21
st victory of the season here Friday night, defeating Faulkner 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) in SSAC play.
The standings at the top of the SSAC have been crowded for the last week, but after tonight the picture will be getting clearer as conference teams finished the regular season Saturday.
Before tonight, the Toppers and Loyola were both tied for second at 10-4 in SSAC play, chasing first place Mobile at 12-2.
In tonight's match,
Rachel Stegall dominated the Eagle defense, slamming down 19 kills at a .457 clip for the Volley Toppers.
Salice Speed got in on the offensive action, collecting 10 kills of her own, while
Kora Wilson collected 25 digs on defense.
Reanna Brown dished out 25 assists for the Toppers and
Peyton Kidd had a double-double chipping in 14 assists and 10 digs in the victory.
Valeria Velez would kick in 14 digs also.
Blue Mountain Christian would go on to swing at a .257 clip and hold Faulkner to just .169.
The Toppers are riding a three-game win streak headed into the final regular season match Saturday.
BMCU (21-6, 11-4 SSAC) closes the regular season schedule tomorrow on the road against SSAC leader Mobile at 1 p.m. CT.
