Mobile, Ala. – Blue Mountain Christian earned a strong road win on Saturday afternoon, taking down the Mobile Rams 70–62 in a steady, composed performance built on timely scoring and tough rebounding.
The Toppers came out sharp in the opening quarter, pushing ahead 17–11 behind early activity from
Kathryn Echols, who scored 10 points in the first period alone.
BMCU's defensive pressure set the tone, forcing turnovers and creating extra possessions that helped them control the early pace.
In the second quarter, the Toppers continued to find balance offensively, putting up 21 points to take a 38–26 lead into the half.
McKenzie Williams powered a key stretch with strong finishes inside, scoring 10 of her team-high 19 points in the second frame. The Toppers' largest lead of the game—14 points—came late in the period as they kept Mobile off rhythm from the field.
The Rams made their most significant push in the third quarter, trimming into the deficit behind improved shooting and extra trips to the foul line. But each time Mobile threatened, the Toppers responded with poised half-court execution.
Maddie Kirk delivered a steadying presence during that stretch, scoring eight third-quarter points to help BMCU maintain a 53–45 advantage heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, rebounding and composure sealed the game. Williams continued to dominate the glass, finishing with a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Echols added seven fourth-quarter points to hold off the Rams' late surge. BMCU's defensive discipline—seven blocks and 50 total rebounds—proved crucial in the closing minutes.
With the road win, the Toppers move forward with momentum and will return home for a matchup against Freed-Hardeman on Tuesday.
