Firehawks down Toppers in final seconds

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – BMCU Men's Soccer fell in the final regular-season game of the season here Saturday to UT-Southern 1-2.
Despite the loss, the Toppers have earned a spot in the upcoming SSAC Championship, hosted by top-seeded teams.
With Blue Mountain winning the majority of the match, the Firehawks would find two goals with less than six minutes to take the conference win.
Blue Mountain's goal would come in the first half, as Dipanda Silva Jr. found the back of the net at 23:34, giving his team the important victory.
The Firehawks would eventually find a goal at the 5:25 mark of the second half when Christian Sentz scored for his team to tie it 1-1.
The heartbreaker goal came with just 30 seconds left in the match, as Mak Binder scored the game-winner on an assist from George Grice for the Firehawks.
Luan Nascimento had a solid game between the sticks for BMCU, notching six saves.
The Topper offense would get off four shots on goal, while the Firehawks had eight.
BMCU (4-10-2, 2-6-1 SSAC) now awaits to see where they will travel to play in the SSAC Championship, slated for campus locations Oct. 30 – Nov. 1.  Seeding will be decided today or Sunday and can be found at ssacsports.com.
