Marietta, Ga.- The Toppers fell to the Life University Running Eagles in the opening round of the 2025 SSAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament on Friday, 2-0.
Life struck first early in the match, finding the back of the net at the 11-minute mark off a goal by Burigotto. The Toppers nearly answered in the 24th minute when Dipanda Silva Jr. fired a shot on goal, but the Running Eagles' keeper made the save to preserve the lead.
BMCU's defense tightened for the remainder of the first half, keeping Life off the board and heading into halftime trailing 1-0.
In the second period, the Running Eagles extended their advantage with a goal from Lazzari in the 68th minute to make it 2-0. Despite continued efforts from the Toppers' attack, Life held firm to secure the victory.
The Toppers close out their 2025 campaign with gratitude for their seniors and the leadership they displayed throughout the season. The program looks ahead with excitement to what's in store for the 2026 season.
