Blue Mountain, Miss.- BMCU endured a slow start on Thursday night to defeat the Wolf Pack.
To start the game, it looked as if Loyola wanted to set the tone early.
They full court pressed most of the early portion of the game and created many turnovers.
The Toppers went down fifteen to six by the fourteen
-minute mark of the first half.
In the span of three minutes,
Jason Hunt scored eleven points and swung momentum towards the Toppers.
Chris Carter chipped with a layup as well to lessen the deficit to four points by the eleven-minute mark of the first half.
From that point on, momentum never wavered with a six-point lead for the Toppers going into halftime.
Hunt had eighteen points in the first half.
A couple of times throughout the second half, the Wolf Pack were able to chop down the Toppers lead to four but that was as close as they would come to retaking the lead.
A phenomenal performance by
Vincent Douglas in the second half of action led to a decisive victory over Loyola.
Douglas had eighteen points and six rebounds in the second half alone.
He finished with a double-double performance with twenty-four points and eleven rebounds.
Hunt finished led the team in scoring with twenty-five.
Bryan Maxey had a valiant effort with twelve points and eight rebounds.
Leo Lin had an outstanding performance defensively and put up eleven points scoring.
The Toppers next game will be after a much needed nine days off.
They will face SSAC newcomer Abraham Baldwin on January 18
th in Tifton, Georgia.
