Lebanon, Tenn.- BMCU traveled to Cumberland University in a rematch game from early December and will be headed back to Blue Mountain with a victory.
Towards the seven-minute mark of the first half, it was a close ball game with Toppers holding on to a one-point lead.
That was until BMCU pushed the ball down the court, thus enabling them to score seven points in three minutes of game time.
Thanks to a hot start by Ray Witt and Duke Vincent, the Toppers were able to take a seven-point lead into halftime.
The Phoenix kept battling and were able to retake the lead by three points at the sixteen-minute mark of the second half.
A technical foul within the same minute put Bryan Maxey at the line for the BMCU. He was able to sink three of the four free throws to tie the game at thirty-eight.
Back and forth the game went into the last minute of the game where the Toppers were able to pull away with good free throw shooting by Jason Hunt.
Four Toppers had double digit scoring performances in the game.
Douglas has a double-double with twenty points and ten rebounds.
Hunt led the team in scoring with Douglas with twenty points.
Witt added a solid performance with eighteen points, and Maxey did as well with fourteen points.
Momodu had great performance off the glass. He grabbed fifteen rebounds.
BMCU will be taking on UT-Southern in a conference game this Saturday at 2:00 pm in Pulaski, Tennessee.
