Little Rock, Ark.- BMCU went on a road trip on Tuesday night to face off against the Arkansas Baptist Buffaloes and endured until they were victorious.
The lady Toppers went out in front of Arkansas Baptist at the end of the first quarter with help from
Maddie Kirk,
Crystin Guy, and
Mackenzie Williams offensively.
Defensively, BMCU was able to cause six turnovers in the first quarter of the game with five steals.
In the second quarter, Williams went into hyperdrive scoring eight points in the quarter.
The team defensive of the lady Toppers was stout in the second quarter as they held the Buffaloes to just five points.
BMCU took a fifteen-point lead into halftime.
Credit should be given to the Buffaloes. They did not lay down in the second half.
Williams was not through with her outstanding performance on the night as she scored nine points in third quarter.
Guy chipped in with five points of her own.
Arkansas Baptist outscored the lady Toppers in the third quarter by three points to cut the lead to twelve going into the fourth.
It became a back-and-forth game in the fourth quarter.
Seniors, Guy and
Charnita Brooks, helped the lady Toppers maintain the course to victory.
BMCU hit six of their seven free throws in the fourth quarter to put this game on ice.
The freshman, Williams, had a tremendous game offensively with most of her field goals coming from the paint. She led the team in scoring with twenty-one points.
Guy had another solid performance with sixteen points.
The lady Toppers will travel to Tifton, Georgia this weekend to face off against SSAC newcomer, Abraham Baldwin.
