BMCU Volleyball Splits SSAC Opening Weekend

Blue Mountain, Miss.- The Volley Toppers forty-two SSAC win streak came to an end this Saturday against the Crusaders of William Carey.
The Toppers took on Loyola on Friday winning three sets to one.
Olivia Ashton was a consistent threat for the toppers on offense as she finished the match with sixteen kills. Natalie Bartholomew and Kaytie Rutland followed behind her with eleven kills each.
On defense, Ambre El Rhaffouli had four blocks in the match and Jaiyah Jackson had eighteen digs. She was followed by Kora Wilson and Kerianna Collins with fourteen digs each.
On Saturday, the Volley Toppers lost a close match that came down to fifth set.
The Toppers took set one behind a strong performance from Peyton Kidd assisting and Ashton attacking.
The Crusaders were able to get into a rhythm in the second set scoring fifteen straight points.
BMCU kept fighting and grinded out a win in the third set behind clutch attacks by Rae Ann Hall.
WCU then went on another run in the fourth set with big performances that came from Hermont and Bettini.
In the final set, the crusaders were able to narrowly escape the Volley Toppers.
BMCU Volleyball will be back in action this next Friday at 6:00 pm versus the Mobile University Rams.
