BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – A big SSAC showdown between (RV) Mobile and (RV) Blue Mountain Christian would go the Rams' way Friday night, as they swept by the Toppers 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 26-24).
It was also the first time Mobile has beaten the Toppers since September of 2022.
Mobile set the tempo in the very first set, as they went on a 6-1 run midway through, eventually winning the set on a Topper error.
The Rams breezed through the second set and followed it up with a 26-24 win in the third. Down 16-11, the Toppers showed guts by drawing back to tie it at 24-24 but kills from Dazsha Dean Middleton and Corrina Porch-Maxey finished off the contest.
Olivia Ashton led the Toppers with 12 kills at a .300 clip, while
Jaiyah Jackson had 17 digs.
Hailey Oliver was a dig shy of a double-double, collecting 17 assists with nine digs, while in her first game back from injury,
Michaela Frederick, handed out 14 assists.
Kaytie Rutland had a solid outing at the net, collecting four assisted blocks, while
Sammie Smith and
Ambre El Rhaffouli had two combo blocks each.
BMCU (7-4, 1-2 SSAC) looks to bounce back Monday against NCAA DII Lane College in Blue Mountain at 6 p.m. CT.
