HENDERSON, Tenn. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian travelled to Tennessee Wednesday to square up with cross-state foe Freed-Hardeman for a non-conference doubleheader.
The opener didn't go Blue Mountain's way, as the Lions would score enough to make it a run-rule contest, five-inning contest at 10-0.
The Toppers didn't help themselves, as they would commit four errors and leave six stranded on base.
The Lions' big inning came in the third, as they plated four runs capped by RBI singles from Chloe Carter and Kiersten Perry against BMCU starter
Madison Montgomery.
Blue Mountain would manage five hits in the game, with
Kennedy Turner getting a double to left center in the fourth.
Montgomery (4-7) suffered the loss for BMCU, tossing four innings, giving up four earned runs on 13 hits, while Freed's Brittany Adair got the win by going four innings, giving up five hits and striking out eight.
GAME 2
Freed-Hardeman completed the sweep in the evening games, winning by a score of 9-2.
BMCU's
Bri Langley would dominate the Lion offense for five innings, but Freed would get going in the sixth inning where they would score all nine runs, highlighted by a pair of two-run doubles from Brinley Cousar and Natalie Gilmore.
Blue Mountain's two runs came in the very first inning on a double by
Kennedy Turner that scored
Iris Farve and
Evi Edwards.
Langley (4-4) suffered the loss for BMCU, tossing a complete game, giving up nine runs on 12 hits.
Julianna Ingram was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for the Toppers, while Farve would have two.
Skylar Lee would swipe a base for BMCU, her 19
th of the season. Lee has only been thrown out once this season on the base paths.
BMCU (13-19, 5-11 SSAC) returns to SSAC play Saturday against Thomas University in Thomasville, Ga. at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CT.
