Softball bangs out 34 hits in doubleheader against LeMoyne-Owen

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian thrashed an outmatched NCAA DII LeMoyne-Owen team here Tuesday in non-conference play.
The Toppers put up an 18 spot in a shutout in the opener behind a gym from Madison Montgomery in the circle to apply the mercy rule.
Montgomery (5-10) would two-hit the Magicians, while striking out eight batters, while her offense belted out 20 hits.
Haley McDaniel led the way with four hits, three RBI and two runs scored, while Iris Farve had three hits with five RBI and two runs scored.
Destiny Dill would have three hits with three RBI and two runs scored, including a pair of triples.
Shante Beaulieu chipped in two hits, two RBI and two runs, while Jacy White also had three hits with three runs scored.
The Toppers would steal 10 bases and total seven doubles in the contest.
 
GAME 2
Blue Mountain would run rule LeMoyne-Owen in the nightcap, easily winning 10-1 in six innings.
The Toppers pounded out 14 more hits, led by Evi Edwards who had three hits and a pair of RBI.
Skylar Lee had two hits, two RBI and two runs also, while Jacy White collected three hits.
Blue Mountain would swipe seven more bases, totaling 17 for the day.  Every Topper that came to the plate had a hit in the contest.
Iris Farve (1-0) got the win in the circle for the Toppers in her first outing, throwing four innings, giving up no earned runs around five hits with a K.
BMCU (19-27, 7-17 SSAC) rides a four-game winning streak into Saturday when they conclude the regular season in a doubleheader against SSAC foe UT-Southern in Pulaski, Tenn. at 2 and 4 p.m. CT.
