TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian dropped the front end of an SSAC doubleheader here Saturday to Stillman College 4-1.
The Toppers lone run came in the third inning when
Skylar Lee singled to left and
Jadyn Yarbro advanced to third and would come around to score on the throw from the outfield.
BMCU starter
Madison Montgomery held the Stillman offense in check for 4.1 innings, but the Tigers would score three in the fifth, highlighted by a sac fly by Bailie Seales and an RBI single by Anniston Jones.
Stillman's Lexi McCray, who has lost only one game in the circle this season, tossed 6.2 innings, giving up a run on five hits to earn her 14
th win of the season.
Montgomery (4-10) would suffer the loss, with 4.1 innings pitched, four runs on six hits with two Ks.
Skylar Lee swiped her 23
rd base of the season for BMCU in the loss.
GAME 2
Stillman would get a carbon copy of the first game, winning the nightcap by the same score of 4-1 over the Toppers.
The Tigers would get four runs in the bottom of the second, with a pair of RBI doubles from Lauren Haskins and Taylor Roland against BMCU starter
Jacy Weaver, all unearned runs.
The Toppers would score in the top of the seventh when
Skylar Lee singled in
Sam Whitwell, but the BMCU rally stalled, and Stillman would take the game and the series.
Jacy Weaver (6-10) threw a solid game in the circle for the Toppers, tossing a complete game, allowing no earned runs, six hits with three Ks.
Haley McDaniel would have two hits at the plate for the Toppers in the loss, while Lee swiped two more bases to total 25 on the season, just one shy of tying the BMCU single-season record.
BMCU (15-27, 7-17) looks to snap an eight-game skid Monday, as they host Bethel (Tenn.) in Blue Mountain at 2 and 4 p.m. CT.
