BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 1 - Blue Mountain Christian welcomed NCAA DII Christian Brothers to town for a midweek doubleheader Wednesday, with CBU taking Game 1 by a score of 5-2.
CBU would get three in the second inning, followed by a run in the third to make it 4-0 as BMCU starter
Bri Langley got the start in the circle.
The Toppers answered in the bottom of the fourth, as
Jadyn Yarbro ripped a two-run double to center to score
Mallory Jo Mitchell and
Julianna Ingram.
The Bucs would get an insurance run in the top of the seventh to stave off the Topper comeback.
Haylee Alberson got the win in the circle for CBU, tossing a complete game, allowing two runs on seven hits with six Ks.
Langley (5-7) suffered the loss for BMCU, also tossing a complete game, allowing five runs on nine hits with four Ks.
Yarbro and
Iris Farve would both have two hits for BMCU, with Yarbro driving in two.
GAME 2
One swing in the third inning would be the difference-maker in Game 2, as CBU finished off the sweep of Blue Mountain with a 3-1 victory.
Madison Montgomery got the call in the circle for the Toppers, as her offense hit the board first in the opening inning with
Iris Farve scoring
Haley McDaniel on a groundout.
CBU would answer in the top of the third with three runs, highlighted by a two-run homer to left by Summer Alexander, making it 3-1 Bucs.
Neither team could scratch across any more runs, giving CBU the sweep.
Montgomery (4-9) threw a solid game, tossing a complete outing, giving up two earned runs on nine hits with three Ks.
Emily Schooler got the win for CBU, also tossing a complete game, giving up one runs on four hits with four Ks.
McDaniel and
Skylar Lee led BMCU at the plate with two hits each.
BMCU (15-25) looks to bounce back Saturday, as they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on Stillman in an SSAC doubleheader set for 1 and 3 p.m. CT.
