BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain Christian Women outclassed Point University here Thursday in an SSAC clash, winning easily 58-41 to exact revenge from an earlier loss to the Skyhawks this season.
The Lady Toppers never let the Skyhawks into the game as they jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the first quarter.
The Blue Mountain defense locked down even tighter in the second quarter, allowing only seven Skyhawk points.
In the meantime,
Maddie Kirk and
Rebecca Walter were doing the damage offensively for Blue Mountain.
When the dust settled, Kirk led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds and Walter had 13 points and four boards.
Blue Mountain's defense would force 15 Point turnovers en route to the Lady Toppers' second SSAC victory of the season.
Point shooting was abysmal, as the Skyhawks were a lowly 2-of-23 from behind the three-point arc.
In all, nine Lady Toppers found the bucket scoring and the team would score 24 points in the paint against the bigger Skyhawk team.
The victory keeps Blue Mountain's hopes of making the SSAC Tournament coming up later this month.
BMCU (5-17, 2-12 SSAC) returns to SSAC action Saturday as they host Thomas University in Blue Mountain with tip set for 12 p.m. CT.
