BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain Christian Women won its second straight SSAC contest here Saturday, handling Thomas University 61-41.
It was revenge for an earlier loss this season Thomas dealt to the Lady Toppers in Georgia.
From the outset, it was just no contest, as Blue Mountain smothered the Knight Hawks, holding them to just six points scoring in the first quarter.
The Blue Mountain defense held Thomas to a miserable 19.4 percent shooting from the floor on the day, while
Rebecca Walter had her way with the Knight Hawk defense in the paint.
Walter would record a double-double, leading all scorers with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Walter would be the only Lady Topper in double-figure scoring, but everyone who played for BMCU scored in the game.
Isabella Carlson had a solid outing with six points, six rebounds and five assists, while
Deja Pryor had six points also.
Crystin Guy would also provide 10 rebounds in the win.
Blue Mountain would move the basketball all over the court, getting easy buckets and doing whatever they wanted en route to a 40 percent shooting game.
The Lady Toppers would score more than 50 percent of their points in the paint, knocking through 34 points and scoring 18 points on second chances.
BMCU's (6-17, 3-13 SSAC) postseason hopes still lie within reach with three SSAC games on schedule. The Lady Toppers will travel to conference leader Loyola Thursday in New Orleans, La. with tip set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
