HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Blue Mountain Christian Women fell on the road here Saturday in SSAC action to state foe (RV) William Carey 88-52.
The Lady Toppers couldn't get much going offensively in the first quarter, as Carey raced out to a 20-5 lead.
Blue Mountain would pick up the pace a bit in the second, as
Crystin Guy would score seven points before the half, but Carey held a 46-20 lead at the break.
Guy would continue to score for the Toppers, chipping in seven more in the third, but Carey continued to maintain a dominate lead after the third quarter 63-36.
Carey would continue to turn it on offensively and put up 25 more points to finish off the Lady Toppers and win its 12
thstraight SSAC game.
Guy would lead BMCU with 14 points and six rebounds, while
Charnita Brooks had 11.
Shaneal Corpuz led Carey with 17 points, Rose Warren had 15 and Jenna Garriga chipped in 12 points in the victory for the Lady Crusaders.
Carey would shoot 55 percent from the field to Blue Mountain's 31 percent, while also outrebound Blue Mountain 40-27.
The Lady Crusaders would get a huge boost from its bench, as they poured in 42 points to Blue Mountain's 13.
BMCU (7-18, 4-13 SSAC) will play its final regular-season game Saturday in Blue Mountain against UT-Southern needing a victory, as the postseason continues to hang in the balance for the Lady Toppers.
