Townsend powers Toppers past Tougaloo

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian blew through Tougaloo in Game 1 of their two-game series Tuesday, easily winning 12-2.
Arderrius Townsend continued his torrid hitting, burning the Bulldogs with a two-homerun performance in the opener.
"Peeko" Townsend would go on to drive in six runs and score twice, while Jackson Siler picked up the pitching victory for the Toppers, throwing six innings of two-hit ball with six Ks and an earned run.
Blue Mountain beat up on Tougaloo pitcher Christian Borders, tagging him for 12 earned runs on 11 hits in six innings.
Will Crawford also did big damage at the plate for the Toppers, notching two hits with two RBI including a double.
Tyrese Roberson and Hayden Arant both scored two runs in the victory, with Arant doubling.  Hayden Redding would also have a triple for BMCU.
Josiah Rivera swiped two bases for Blue Mountain, with Arant and Bryland Skinner also stealing one apiece.
 
GAME 2
Game 2 was more of the same, as Blue Mountain would destroy the Bulldogs 16-4 behind 12 hits and a 10-run sixth inning.
Will Crawford led the way with a 4-for-4 game, driving in three and scoring three times.
Carson Gault would chip in two hits including a double and drive in five runs, while Hayden Redding scored five times.
Peeko Townsend added two more hits to his day, including two more RBI and two runs scored.
Ammon Murphy would get the decision on the bump for the Toppers, tossing five innings, giving up one earned run on four hits with three Ks.
Austin Garrison would add a triple for the Toppers, while Townsend, Redding and Bryland Skinner would swipe two bases apiece.
BMCU (7-1) will open SSAC play this weekend against Brewton-Parker in Mount Vernon, Ga. on a six-game win streak.  The two teams will play a doubleheader Friday with first pitch at 2 p.m. CT, and Game 3 will be Saturday at 11 a.m. CT.
