MOBILE, Ala. – Blue Mountain Women fell in SSAC action here Thursday to the Rams of Mobile 81-62.
The Rams were hot in the first half, shooting 52 percent from the field and 5-of-9 from behind the three-point arc, leading the Lady Toppers 41-30.  Blue Mountain also shot well from the field, hitting for 46 percent.
Crystin Guy had a solid first half for BMCU, scoring 11 points with three assists, while Maddie Kirk had six points and six rebounds.
Mobile's Erica Jones led her team with 15 points at the break.
The Lady Toppers hit their run early in the third quarter with Guy getting a bucket, Rebecca Walter scoring down low and Maddie Kirk scoring to make it 49-45 Mobile.
Blue Mountain would get to within four again, but Mobile would fend them off and pull away for the victory.
Kirk put together a double-double in the loss for BMCU, leading the way with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Guy would finish with 15 points for the Toppers, while Charnita Brooks had 11 and Walter chipped in 10.
Jones was dominant for Mobile, finishing with 28 points and six rebounds, while Alanna Donaldson had 18 points.  The Ram defense would also go on to force 19 turnovers.
BMCU (4-16, 1-11 SSAC) returns to SSAC play Saturday against Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala. with tip set for 12 p.m. CT.
