PULASKI, Tenn. – Blue Mountain Christian Men closed out its regular-season schedule here Saturday, dropping to (RV) UT-Southern 2-5.
The Toppers would draw first blood, as Daniel Gomez hit the back of the net for his team around UT-Southern keeper Louis Hester.
The Firehawks answered with a goal from Manuel Flores off an assist from Manuel Silva to tie it at 1-1.
The UT-Southern offense went on a scoring spree afterward, hitting the next four goals.
At 34:01, Silva would score to give his team a 2-1 advantage.
Less than three minutes later, Flores recorded his second goal off an assist from Mak Binder.
The Firehawks closed out the first half with a netter from Binder off an assist from Flores to take a 4-1 lead at the break.
UT-Southern returned in the second half to score again, this time from Carlos Galan off another assist from Binder.
Blue Mountain would manage another goal at 68:21, when Caio Brandao scored off an assist from Keishun Kanesaka.
Gabriel Ormeneze and Jesus Calvo split time between the sticks for BMCU, with both men recording a save each.
BMCU (3-8-4, 3-6-1 SSAC) closes out the regular season and will next face SSAC top seed Mobile in the first round of the SSAC Championship with a date and time to be set soon.
