BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – In a game that saw all three goals scored within three minutes, Life University would get the 2-1 victory over Blue Mountain here Saturday in SSAC play.
After a first half that was all defense, Life would finally break the ice with a goal at 70:58 by Sem Van Der Leer.
Less than two minutes later, Blue Mountain's
Daniel Gomez would get a looping score over Life keeper George Edgley to tie the game at 1-1 off an assist from
Antonio Gutierrez.
Thirty seconds later, the Running Eagles would find the back of the net once again, this time from Thomas Rodella off an assist from Van Der Leer, giving Life a 2-1 edge and good enough for the important conference victory.
Despite the loss, BMCU keeper
Gabriel Ormeneze had a solid day between the sticks, notching eight saves.
Life would get 10 shots on goal on the Topper defense, while BMCU would get off two.
The Toppers' postseason hopes could come down to the wire, as they are currently sitting in eighth in the SSAC with two games left to play in the regular season.
BMCU (2-7-4, 2-5-1 SSAC) returns to SSAC action Tuesday, Oct. 22 against Thomas University in Thomasville, Ga. at 12 p.m. CT.
