COCHRAN, Ga. – Blue Mountain Christian Men played to a 2-2 draw here Saturday in SSAC play against Middle Georgia State.
The draw is the fourth on the season for the Toppers, as they continue to play well in conference action on a previous two-game win streak.
The Toppers got on the board first in the match, as
Matheus Okuma scored on a penalty kick at the 30:22 mark to put BMCU up 1-0 in the first.
MGA answered with its own penalty kick goal at 37:15 on a netter from Moos Zwerts to tie it 1-1 going into the half.
Blue Mountain would take the lead at 50:20 in the second, as
Marcelo Rodrigues found the back of the net and past Knight keeper Aymerick Joly to put the Toppers up 2-1.
At 64:27, Scott Osbourne would tie the match with a goal on an assist from Leighton Thomas and Zwerts.
With less than two minutes to go,
Matias Cisterna would get off a shot but was blocked. MGA would also get off a shot with just 13 seconds left from Branden Glover but would sail high to end the match in a draw.
BMCU keeper
Gabriel Ormeneze had another solid outing between the sticks the entire 90 minutes, claiming three saves. Rodrigues and Okuma both had two goals each on the week for the Toppers.
BMCU (2-5-4, 2-3-1 SSAC) returns to SSAC action Wednesday, October 16 against Dalton State in Dalton, Ga. at 6:30 p.m. CT.
