Night Hawks shut down Topper offense

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Thomas University help Blue Mountain Christian Men to its lowest scoring output of the season here Saturday, as the Night Hawks defeated the Toppers 72-54 in SSAC action.
Blue Mountain's Keevin Etienne recorded another double-double in the loss with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  It's Etienne's fifth double-double of the season.
Unlike the previous game against Point, Blue Mountain would struggle shooting from the floor, especially behind the three-point arc.
The Toppers would lead all but nine seconds of the first half, as Thomas' Jarvis Brown drained a three at the buzzer to give his team a 28-25 lead at the break.
Etienne was close to a double-double in the first half, as he had nine points and seven rebounds.
In the second half, it took the Toppers over three minutes to score when Manny Patrick broke the drought with two free-throws.
Another three minutes would tick off the clock before Vincent Douglas was able to hit a jumper on the baseline for Blue Mountain, as Thomas was heating up and sped out to a 49-31 lead at the 11:30 mark.
The Toppers couldn't shoot their way back into it, as they would eventually go just 6-of-29 from three-point land.
Kevin Hymes had his best game of the season for Blue Mountain, chipping in 14 points and five rebounds off the bench.
The Toppers would eventually finish shooting just 29 percent from the field while Thomas shot 44 percent.
Brown would lead Thomas and all scorers, dropping 16 for the Night Hawks in the victory.
BMCU (8-8, 2-6 SSAC) looks to get back on the horse Thursday, January 11 in SSAC action in Blue Mountain against Loyola with tip set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
