TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Blue Mountain Christian Women succumb to Stillman College here Monday night in SSAC action, falling 86-48.
Coming off a huge upset over Life University Saturday, the Lady Toppers never could get going offensively as Stillman raced out to a 28-point first quarter, and later to a 52-20 halftime lead.
The first half saw Stillman's Kashara Preston score 14 points and teammate Thaniyah Marks score 10.
Crystin Guy led Blue Mountain at the half with seven points.
Stillman would shoot an unbelievable 69 percent in the first half with nine from three-point land, while the Lady Toppers were completely cold shooting just 18 percent.
After being held scoreless in the first half, Blue Mountain's
Rebecca Walter would heat up to score ten points in the third quarter, while the Stillman offense cooled a bit but still held a 73-33 lead.
When it was over, Blue Mountain was a season-low 0-for-16 from behind the three-point arc and would shoot 32 percent from the field. Stillman would shoot 55 percent from the field and hit 12-of-23 from deep, a season high for the Tigers.
Walter would finish with 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Toppers, while Marks led Stillman with 16 points.
The Lady Toppers would commit 16 turnovers to Stillman's five, while Blue Mountain held the rebound edge 33-27.
BMCU (4-15, 1-10 SSAC) returns to SSAC play Thursday against Mobile in Alabama with tip set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
