HATTIESBURG, Miss. – It was a tough day for BMCU Women, as they suffered a 6-0 shutout to national No. 1 William Carey in SSAC action Saturday.
The Carey defense was stifling, as it held the Toppers away from goal and didn't allow a shot on goal.
The Crusaders would get a hat-trick from Christina Salmon, as she would score a goal in the first half and two in the second.
Salmon's second-half goals came eight minutes apart, with assists from Julia Herbst and Natasha Povey.
Carey would hold a 4-0 lead the break, as Maria Azarias, Herbst and Fernanda Pena Nieto joined Salmon with goals.
Blue Mountain would get shots out of
Allana Andrews and
Maria Diedrick.
Jordan Gates and
Flavie Sallaz split time at the keeper spot for the Toppers, with Gates getting four saves and Sallaz getting six.
BMCU (2-7-2, 0-3 SSAC) is currently on a four-game skid, as they head back to the pitch next Saturday in SSAC action to take on Point at 3 p.m. CT in West Point, Ga.
