HATTIESBURG, Miss. – No. 7 William Carey ousted state rival Blue Mountain Christian here Saturday in SSAC play, shutting out the Toppers 2-0.
The Toppers proved tough in the first for the Crusaders, as the Blue Mountain defense allowed a goal early but didn't allow another in the opening half.
William Carey's Jack Greenwood netted the first goal for his team at the 8:31 mark on an assist from Roberto Rangel, sending him team into the half with a 1-0 lead.

Alvaro Lopez would have four saves in the first half, with
Karim Swedi taking an unsuccessful shot on goal for Blue Mountain.
The lone goal in the second came for Carey at the 77:03 mark when Elias Salminen put the game away on another assist from Rangel.
Swedi would get off another shot at the goal in the second, but Carey keeper Andreas Kokoska fended it off, eventually garnering the clean sheet shutout.
Despite the loss, Lopez threw up a decent wall for Blue Mountain between the sticks with 13 saves.
The Toppers are currently on a two-game skid as the conference schedule ramps up.
BMCU (2-5-1, 0-2-1 SSAC) returns to SSAC action next Saturday against Point University in West Point, Ga. at 4:30 p.m. CT.
