BMCU dominates Southeastern and Coastal Georgia

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – MATCH 3 – (RV) Blue Mountain Christian swept a pair of matches Saturday here to conclude the Milligan Mountain Madness Tournament, blowing out Southeastern (Fla.) in Match 3 by a score of 25-22, 25-15, 25-15.
Star hitter Gigi Sasso was solid again for the Volley Toppers, recording her third straight double-double with 13 kills at .375 and 12 digs.
Reanna Brown passed out 15 assists and Michaela Frederick dished out 11 for the Toppers in the victory, also.
Jaiyah Jackson had 17 digs on defense, while Kaytie Rutland had eight kills at a .250 clip.  A'Dasia Porter got in on the defensive fun by posting three assisted blocks, as did Rutland.
Southeastern couldn't post anything meaningful against the Topper defense, hitting a lowly .043 in the match.
"We responded very well today after yesterday's loss," BMCU head coach Reid Gann said.  "They had several blocks against us, but when we got the chance, we hit around their front line well.  We limited our errors and forced them to make a few."

MATCH 4
In the final match of the tournament, Blue Mountain had little mercy on Coastal Georgia, as the Volley Toppers dispatched them in straight sets 25-15, 25-11, 25-14.
The glaring stat was 10 service aces by the Volley Toppers that Coastal couldn't handle.  Kora Wilson fired off half of those with five herself.
The third set saw Blue Mountain go on a 7-0 run that would completely break Coastal Georgia.
Gigi Sasso was dominate from the outside once again for Blue Mountain, dropping down 13 kills with nine digs, one shy of her fourth double-double of the tournament.
Reanna Brown and Michaela Frederick both had 15 assists in the 6-2, while Randi Crandall and Kaytie Ruland both had seven kills apiece for the Toppers.  Jaiyah Jackson would also tally nine digs on defense.
For the third straight season, Blue Mountain gets off to a fast start winning and looks like a national contender once again despite Friday's loss to No. 12 Taylor.
BMCU (4-1) returns to action Tuesday in a doubleheader at the Bethel Tri-Match in McKenzie, Tenn. against Philander-Smith at 5 p.m. CT and Bethel at 7 p.m. CT.
