Toppers and Tigers split final series of regular season

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain and Stillman met in the final regular season series here Friday, with the Tigers grabbing Game1 by a score of 11-5.
Stillman had a big inning in the third against Topper starter Kayla Reichardt, getting five runs capped by a two-run double by Savannah Mayes.
A two-run homer later by Lauren Haskins in the fourth, and the Toppers found themselves down 7-0.
Blue Mountain chipped away in the sixth with Destiny Dill, Mallory Jo Mitchell and Jadyn Yarbro all notching RBI singles to make it 7-5.
A seventh-inning onslaught from the Tigers that included a two-run triple by Haskins sealed the game for her team.
Reichardt (0-3) suffered the loss for BMCU, tossing three innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits with a K.
Evi Edwards, Skylar Lee, Julianna Ingram and Jaci White all had two hits each for Blue Mountain in the loss.
 
GAME 2
Blue Mountain's Harley Mullins got the call in the circle in Game 2, and she would shut down the Stillman offense to a tune of a complete game shutout and give the Toppers a 1-0 victory.
Mullins (8-8) mowed down the Tigers, allowing only two hits with seven Ks, along with striking out the side in the second inning.
The only run Blue Mountain needed came in the bottom of the third when Mallory Jo Mitchell laced an RBI single up the middle to score Destiny Dill.
Dill led the Toppers with two hits at the plate, a double and a triple.
Next up for the Toppers (18-26, 9-19 SSAC) is the SSAC Championship slated for May 4-6 at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex in Decatur, Ala.  Blue Mountain will open the tournament as the No. 6 seed, and will play No. 3 seed William Carey Thursday, May 4 on Field 1 at 12 p.m. CT.
