No. 19 William Carey sweeps set from Blue Mountain

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain and No. 19 William Carey met up Sunday to clash in an SSAC doubleheader that was scheduled a day earlier but moved due to rain.

The Crusaders would get the best of the Toppers in Game 1, winning 5-1 behind a complete-game, three-hitter from pitching star Haley Nations.
Nations would stifle the Topper offense with eight Ks on the day, with Blue Mountain's lone score coming on a wild pitch.
Carley Kidder led the charge offensively for Carey, notching two hits with two RBI and a run scored.
Harley Mullins (4-6) was saddled with the pitching loss for Blue Mountain, also throwing a complete game, giving up four runs on seven hits with five Ks.
 
GAME 2
For the second time this week, the Toppers would go an extra inning and drop the contest in Game 2 by a score of 3-2.
The Toppers scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Skylar Lee and followed that up in the fifth with an RBI single by Hailey McDaniel.
Carey's Dee Dee West hit a two-run homer in the fourth against Topper starter Jacy Weaver, as the game would be knotted up after seven
In the eighth, Carey's Brooke Tanner received a bases-loaded walk from BMC reliever Kayla Reichardt to push her team to victory.
Reichardt (1-2) would suffer the loss, going 1.2 innings with three walks, while Weaver wouldn't receive a decision with six innings pitched, two runs on seven hits and four Ks.
Evi Edwards led the Toppers with three hits, while McDaniel had two.
BMCU (16-22, 7-15 SSAC) will look to snap a six-game skid at home Friday, as they host Brewton-Parker in SSAC play at 2 and 4 p.m. CT.
