No. 15 Mobile takes series from Blue Mountain

MOBILE, Ala. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian traveled to No. 15 Mobile Friday for an SSAC doubleheader showdown.
The Rams would clip the Toppers in Game 1, winning a close one 5-3.
Blue Mountain hit the board first, getting two runs in the first on an RBI single by Evi Edwards and a score by Tyra Yahola on a fielder's choice.
Mobile answered with two of their own in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double by Tempest Hebert.
The Rams went up 5-2 in the fifth thanks to a couple RBI singles.  The Toppers would get one more in the sixth on a sac fly by Skylar Lee, but that would be all they could muster.
Lane Thaxton (1-2) was saddled with the loss for BMCU, tossing 4.2 innings, giving up five runs on six hits.
Lee would have two RBI and Mallory Jo Mitchell had two hits to lead the Toppers.
 
GAME 2
Mobile would win 3-2 in a walkoff thriller to sweep the day series, also giving them the four-game season series.
The Toppers would get two runs in the top of the second on an RBI double by Jadyn Yarbro and an RBI single from Mallory Jo Mitchell.
Mobile answered in the bottom of the third on an RBI single and a fielder's choice to tie it at 2-2.
The two teams would go to an extra inning, with the Toppers threatening with a leadoff double by Lane Thaxton, but the offense couldn't plate her.
The Rams would get a leadoff single in the bottom of the eighth from Madi Robertson who would find herself on third, and finally, driven in with two out with a single up the middle by Tempest Hebert to end it.
Harley Mullins (6-6) suffered the loss for Blue Mountain in a great outing.  She tossed a complete game, gave up three runs on eight hits with four Ks.
Mitchell finished with three hits and an RBI, while Yarbro had two hits and a run batted in for the Toppers.
BMCU (16-20, 7-13 SSAC) returns to SSAC action Saturday in a doubleheader against No. 19 William Carey at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CT.
